About the inventions

MHD pumps – magnetohydrodynamic pumps for pumping of electroconductive liquids (mainly liquid metals) by making use of the interaction of magnetic field and the current flowing in the liquid that is pumped. MHD pumps are reliable and safe, as they do not have mobile parts with the exception of the pumped metal itself. More than 70 different types of MHD pumps have been worked out and manufactured – they have been used in the processes and devices of metallurgy and metallization, especially in the production of pure mercury, casting technology and power industry.

Implementation:

  • MHD technology for the production and recycling of technical (99,5%), pure (99,9995%) and extra pure (99,999999%) mercury and its alloys and compounds has been worked out for the first time in the world. The novel technology gave an opportunity to ensure total automatization of the main recycling processes of mercury. The technology was introduced in many plants of the former USSR as well as in Spain and Germany.
  • MHD devices (mixers, pumps) for mixing and pumping of melted aluminium - they operate in many plants of the former USSR (aluminium plants in Bratsk, Krasnojarsk, Novokuzneck, Irkutsk etc.) as well as in Hungary and the Czech Republic.
